Classic Cocktails Great For Halloween
Halloween is definitely a time for entertaining. Here are a few classic cocktails (with some seasonal twists) that will be a sure hit at your next gathering.
THE ZOMBIE COCKTAIL
Donn Beach, the founding father of tiki bars and restaurants, set a limit of two per customer for this potent drink made with three kinds of rum, citrus, and spice. And with a name like that - can you think of a better fit for Halloween?
Ingredients:
1/2 oz white rum
1 1/2oz. golden rum
1 oz. dark rum
1/2 oz. 151-proof rum
1 oz. lime juice
1 tsp. pineapple juice
1 tsp. papaya juice
1 tsp. superfine sugar

THE ORIGINAL BLOODY MARY
A combination of vodka, tomato juice, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire, and fresh ground spices is simple, classic, and always delicious. It'll be a bloody good time!
Ingredients:
The Mix
1/4 c. tomato juice
1/4 inch horshradish, chopped
1 tsp. Worcestershire
3-4 dashes hot sauce (Tabasco, Tapatio, etc.)
1/2 lime, fresh squeezed
1/2 lemon, fresh squeezed
1 tbsp. vodka
dash of black pepper
dash of sea salt
dash of celery seeds

2 oz. vodka
6-8 oz. Bloody Mary mix

DARK AND STORMY
Not only delicious and a crowd favorite, this classic drink just sounds like it was ripped right out of a scary story.
Ingredients:
2 oz. dark rum
3 oz. ginger beer
1/2 oz. lime juice (optional)

THE BLOOD PEACH BELLINI
The Blood Peach Bellini was originally made using super-seasonal summer blood peaches. This variation (from foodandwine.com) combines Campari, grenadine and white peach puree to approximate the rare fruit’s flavor and color, which is bright blood red and ideal for Halloween.
Ingredients:
4 ounces chilled Prosecco
1/2 ounce Campari
1 ounce white peach puree (see Note)
1/2 ounce grenadine, preferably EO (see Note) or homemade

MULLED WINE WITH MUSCOVADO SUGAR
Mulled wine is the quintessential autumn drink! And this variation is rich and bold - sure to be a hit at any event!
Ingredients:
Two 750-milliliter bottles (or the equivalent) fruity red wine, such as Zinfandel or Merlot
Zest strips from 1 orange
1 1/2 cups muscovado sugar or other dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons black peppercorns, lightly crushed
One 3-inch cinnamon stick, broken into pieces
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon fennel seeds, lightly crushed
