The History of Crescent Schools
Currently, with four locations across the country, Crescent School of Gaming and Bartending is an accredited school. Crescent's talented staff have the connections and reputation necessary to get students the jobs they desire upon graduation.
It All Began in New Orleans
Crescent was founded in 1983 in New Orleans. Crescent has been family-owned since then. More than thirty years later after its founding, Crescent School of Gaming and Bartending, has grown into the largest, most comprehensive bartending and gaming school in the United States.
In 1992, the owners of Crescent had the foresight to see the rapid growth of the hospitality and gaming industries and added courses for table games dealers to the School's leading-edge bar tending curriculum. They also expanded outside of the state of Louisiana, adding a new Crescent campuses in Mississippi, in Gulfport.
Growth in the Industry
Much has happened over the years from an industry and growth perspective. When Mississippi's first casinos opened in 1992, no one was sure what gambling’s impact would be. Take a look at the numbers: In 2016, 30 commercial casinos on the Gulf Coast and along the Mississippi River created $4.26 billion in direct economic activity, 25,000 new jobs and 20 million visits from out-of-state patrons.
In 2001, Crescent expanded its footprint yet again, launching one of the best schools in the country for bartenders and casino dealers in the granddaddy of them all - Las Vegas. That move proved to be fortunate as Hurricane Katrina severely damaged the New Orleans and the Gulfport campuses in 2005. Crescent's roof in New Orleans was actually torn off and there was three feet of standing water in Crescent's Gulfport location. Like other businesses in the Big Easy and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the owners went through the rebuilding process.
Crescent graduates hundreds of bartenders and casino dealers each year, with a never ending focus on job placement.
